NAA (formerly NSACA) Selects AMG to ensure Key Benefits and growth for the Association’s Future
McLEAN, Va., May 22, 2009 — Association Management Group (AMG) clients will grow on June 1st when the National Afterschool Association (NAA) officially joins the AMG family of associations and nonprofit organizations. AMG has been transitioning NAA to its new DC-based headquarters at AMG and hiring new staff to support NAA member programs, services and activities and NAA’s President and CEO Judy Nee.
After working with Meetings Management Group, AMG’s premiere meetings services team, to deliver a record-breaking conference in New Orleans in April, Nee invited AMG President J. Bruce Wardle to present full-service management options to the NAA board of directors. “The NAA has substantial growth goals and program initiatives and NAA needed the infrastructure to support their efforts,” says J. Bruce Wardle, CAE. “Judy and the board, Chaired by Dr. Adrian K. Haugabrook of Wheelock College, have done a masterful job of restructuring the organization, focusing on core services, and delivering value to members and affiliates, AMG’s expertise and ideas will strengthen that work and position the organization to better serve the demands of afterschool practitioners. We will help NAA streamline processes, increase membership and develop new revenue streams to position the organization for the future.”
The NAA disseminates and promotes standards and best practices for quality school-age childcare providers. In line with the NAA’s strategic plan, the move to management in Washington, DC will allow the organization to be a key advocate in policy decisions, collaborate with other associations, develop more strategic partnerships, and work closely with the nation’s major education and out-of-school time organizations based in the area.
“Last year, we established a partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP)” Nee says. “Together, we are developing new ideas and strategies for linking schools and afterschool to address the whole child for the whole day. We want to create more partnerships like this and strengthen our voice in national discussions that affect our members and the field. With AMG’s knowledge, expertise and infrastructure, we can focus on elevating our position within the education community and bringing new relevance to our organization.
Wardle says NAA is a perfect fit for AMG and a terrific complement to two new clients at AMG: the Student Youth Travel Association (SYTA) and the SYTA Youth Foundation. “NAA can trust AMG to deliver superior service from skilled association professionals with a passion for growing nonprofit organizations,” he says. “It will be a great partnership.”
