Largest Washington, DC-Based Association Management Firm Announces Second New Client in Second Quarter

Professional Society Joins Association Management Group

McLean, Va., June 22, 2006 – The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP), by unanimous consent of its officers and certification representative, has selected Association Management Group as the association management company for their growing organization.

“AMG’s management style, business infrastructure and attention to detail mesh well with SMRP growth plans,” says Chuck Armbruster, SMRP chairman. “Our decision to move the management of the society from Industrial Communications, Inc. was a mutual decision and the change will allow both organizations to make functional changes that meet the strategic direction set by our respective boards. We look forward to ICI’s support of SMRP and its goals as member rather than manager, and anticipate continued success with AMG.”

Upon deciding on AMG as the top candidate, the selection committee noted AMG’s quality management practices and procedures, expertise in meetings management, certification and membership proficiency, and strategic marketing communications services among its incomparable management solutions. The 24-year old association management company is dedicated exclusively to staffing and delivering management resources to nonprofit organizations, and providing trusted leadership and advice to empower organizations to meet objectives and achieve success.

“SMRP has aggressive certification and membership goals for the coming year and AMG is uniquely qualified to enable the society to significantly enhance its efforts in these two critical areas,” says Bruce Wardle, CAE, president and CEO of AMG. “No other firm in the DC area has the depth of certification experience resident at AMG and our business-like approach to managing certification in compliance with best practices is most definitely a core competency at our firm.

“We have the ability to develop and implement new program initiatives and manage all components to move the organization forward swiftly. We look forward to working with SMRPCO leaders and volunteers to deliver on their purpose and vision: Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professionals in every facility around the world.”
SMRP is a professional organization formed by practitioners, for practitioners, to instill excellence in maintenance and reliability in all types of manufacturing and service organizations worldwide. It is incorporated as an independent, not-for-profit professional society organized and operated exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. Maintenance and reliability is an integral part of business and asset management and SMRP promotes and supports education and innovative reliability practices to improve work environments.

Pat Winters, CAE, executive director of SMRP, will continue to serve the organization and manage day-to-day operations and staff. “We are working toward a seamless transition to AMG that will allow us to better serve our members, continue our global expansion, and increase our membership,” Winters says. With an 18-month contract for service in place, transition to the new offices in McLean, Virginia will begin immediately.
