Creative Design Recognized As Standard of Excellence in
Toy and Hobby Category
McLEAN, Va., — Something’s fishy at
Communications Marketing Group (CMG), the marketing and communications
department of Association Management Group (AMG), and we just can’t
keep it from bubbling up. CMG has won another WebAward — a Standard of
Excellence in the Toy and Hobby category — for the fun and inviting
design of the AquaTech® Web site (www.aqua-tech.biz). AquaTech is the Walmart brand of home aquariums and power filtration equipment manufactured by United Pet Group.
CMG was hired to develop a simple Web site for Aqua-Tech
that created an image and showcased the brand, and added value to the
Walmart and United Pet Group relationship, while educating consumers
and bringing them into the hobby and the UPG brand family. The
Aqua-Tech Web site was created to be a resource for purchasers to help
make their fish buying and keeping experience enjoyable, and keep them
in the hobby. The visually inviting and information-packed site is a
valuable vehicle to introduce customers to the hobby, keep them
motivated and trade them up through Walmart stores.
“We had a lot of fun creating the brand look and feel and
the brand tone for Aqua-Tech,” said Elinor Kinnier, vice president of
CMG. “Our creative design team nailed the design in the first round
and we built the site from there. We conducted research with families
at day care centers, singles, and childless couples to help us
prioritize information and determine what educational material would be
most helpful. From writing the content to designing the ads and
developing the slogan, ‘Let’s Get Started,’ as well as mapping the site,
we did it all and it was a terrific project.”
Teresa Gutsick, director of Creative Design for AMG notes,
“We had gorgeous photos and the blue marble Walmart background to work
but other than that it was pretty much a blank slate. We understood
our audience and what the site needed to accomplish and we’re just
thrilled that our design won an award.”
The WebAwards, founded by the Web Marketing Association in
1997, recognize outstanding individual and team efforts in Web site
development. The WebAwards is the standards-defining competition that
sets industry benchmarks for the best web sites based on the seven
criteria of a successful Web site. This year, interactive agencies,
Web marketing departments and designers from more than 47 countries
entered sites in 96 industry categories. A panel of independent
Internet experts judged the prestigious competition and submitted this
comment about the Aqua-Tech site, "Refreshing and well-thought out
design."
CMG and AMG’s Creative Design Group work with AMG clients
as well as businesses and nonprofit organizations outside of AMG.
Recognized for their strategic and creative expertise, the CMG team
adds energy and vigor to brand plans and marketing communication
efforts for a variety of clients.
